Patris Corde

A St. Joseph Novena with Pope Francis

Today begins the novena to St. Joseph leading up to his feast day next Friday, March 19th.

Last year I compiled reflections from the pope's 2020 Apostolic Letter, Patris Corde, into a novena. Each day includes a different section of that letter and then this prayer at the end:

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you God entrusted his only Son;
in you Mary placed her trust;
with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,
and defend us from every evil. Amen.

St. Joseph, Terror of Demons - pray for us
St. Joseph, Protector of the Church -pray for us
St. Joseph, Patron of Workers - pray for us

Please consider praying this novena. The pope’s letter is really wonderful, I have prayed through it a few times and look forward to doing so again.

I have prayed novenas to St. Joseph many times in my life, mostly when I’ve been discerning family and vocation decisions. He’s always come through.
